Views at The Square Grouper bar include Jupiter Island,
the Jupiter Lighthouse and Jupiter Inlet. The
ground at The Grouper is white sand that's been raked smooth.
Dozens of beach chairs line the sea wall. The Intercoastal
Waterway runs directly in front of the bar.
Due to condition's on Castaways Marina liquor license, the bar
sells only beer and wine. The only food offered are hot dogs.
You must open your own beer and there is no table
service. Smoking is permitted at this bar because of its
outdoor setting.
Looking to the east
of Castaways Marina you see Jupiter Inlet, the Atlantic
Ocean and South Jupiter Island (Jupiter Inlet Colony homes
are seen in the left side of this photograph.)
This

Lighthouse, Jupiter Lighthouse Park and US Coast Guard
facilities.

These slips make up Castaways Marina.
Commercial fishing boats are still found here near the
Jupiter Inlet. Many fishing boats are based at Castaways Marina.
Recreational boaters
enjoy pulling up for a drink at the Square Grouper. There are no slips available in which to
tie-off. Most captains pull up
to the dock, let off their passengers and then anchor in this
area (pictured above) east of Castaway's dock.
Note that this area is very
shallow. It can become a sandbar at low tide. Boater directions to the
Square Grouper: Take the Intercoastal Waterway to the
Jupiter Inlet area. Castaway's is located on the south side of
the ICW, across from the Jupiter Lighthouse. Look for the blue and green

DIRECTIONS TO THE SQUARE GROUPER BAR IN JUPITER
Take I-95 or
Florida's Turnpike to Indiantown Road (Route 706) in Jupiter.
Head east about 5 miles on Indiantown Road. After
going over the Intercoastal Waterway bridge, take the first left on
to U.S. 1 (head north.)
After Burt Reynolds Park, turn right (east)
on to A1A. Travel east a few blocks. Look for Schooners
Restaurant. It's on the corner of Love Street and A1A.
Turn left (north) on Love Street and follow to the end.
Park in the dirt parking lot behind blue and green
painted building. Keep the parking lot noise and activity to a
minimum... the neighbors complain frequently to the town council.
Note that there are no signs directing visitors to The Square
Grouper. You can also access the bar from the Castaways Marina
docks. Simply head in the Jupiter Inlet and look for the blue
and green colored building across from the lighthouse.
