SQUARE
GROUPER BAR AT CASTAWAYS MARINA Pictures
Of Jupiter, Florida Location Of Tropical Tiki Bar Used In The
Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett Music Video "It's Five O'Clock
Somewhere."
The "Old Florida" feel of The Square Grouper bar starts
the moment you drive in. The parking lot is paved with nothing
more than sand. At one time Jupiter was a slow, remote
coastal town. The Grouper's location is still typical of "old
Jupiter," which is what gives it a lot of it's laid back
"Margaritaville" appeal. Modern day Jupiter is quickly replacing it's Old Florida
attitude with one that's more akin to wealthy Boca Raton or Delray
Beach. This "back story" has struck a cord with locals. It
immediately gave the bar a special place in people's hearts.
Everyone knows the clock's ticking. It's only a
matter of time before the City pries loose this unrefined gem and
polishes it into something with the soul of an upscale mall.
Since its
beginning more than three decades ago, Castaways Marina has
been popular with Jupiter's local fishermen. It's located
just inside the Jupiter Inlet. Seafood used to be weighed
and purchased wholesale in Castaways parking lot. Fish came
off the docks or were brought by anglers who pull their boats over from
the nearby Burt
Reynolds Park launch ramps. One of those trailered fishing
boats is seen in the background.
This
photo shows fish being weighted in The Square Grouper's parking
lot. The fish were later moved to a refrigerated truck.

Signs request that visitors keep parking lot noise to a
minimum because of the nearby homes.
The building operated as a bait and convenience store
from 1970-2003. Bait and tackle are still available in the back.
Note The Square Grouper's "Magic Door" is seen open here.
This is door Alan Jackson opens to join Jimmy Buffett on stage
in the "It's Five O' Clock Somewhere" music video.
The Square Grouper's restrooms are found on the side. Click below
